This CD-ROM was produced by the Safety and Health Program at the Missoula Technology and Development Center. It contains electronic files that give you the flexibility to produce the materials you need for your classes.
The course materials were prepared using the Adobe Acrobat format. You should be able to open and print them from your browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape) using the free Acrobat Reader on the Forest Service's contract PCs. If you run into problems, see the information in our Help file.
We have these files set up so they can be printed single sided from a computer and converted to double sided when they are copied. After you print the pages from your computer, set the cover aside. Run the remaining pages through a copier after setting the copier to print "single-sided to double-sided."
You can use a three-hole punch to prepare the materials for a binder.
The table of contents, chapter 1, glossary, sample job hazard analysis, and additional information are combined for both the student's and instructor's guide books. These materials are to be used in all classes.
The other chapters are separate so they can be printed as needed.
Two PowerPoint presentations are included for the instructors.
Certificates and rating cards are available in clear plastic sheets in your binder. You can take these high-quality originals to be a copy center and produce as many copies as you need. The electronic files for these materials are in chapter 5 of the Instructor's Guidebook.
